ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:
The Ashinaga Foundation has worked for over half a century to provide for students in Japan who have lost one or both parents. The foundation provides financial support and guidance for students to continue their studies and access to quality education as well as emotional support and advocacy. In 2012, the Ashinaga Foundation began hosting PiA Fellows who have tutored students to improve their English language skills, supported summer programs like the Tsudoi summer camp, and provided administrative support for the Foundation. ABOUT THE POSITION:
The PiA Fellow is tasked with providing academic support to students living in the Kokorojuku dormitory in the form of English lessons, English test preparations, and events that promote intercultural exchange. They will also be given the opportunity to work with different departments within Ashinaga in order to maximize the use of their skills and knowledge, and to ensure that they will gain multitudes of experiences and a deep understanding of the organization's philosophy during their time here. The PiA Fellow will be working from the Ashinaga Kokorojuku dormitory and Ashinaga headquarters for 35 hours per week in a flexible schedule. The major project for the duration of their internship is to provide cross-cultural learning opportunities for the students living in the Kokorojuku.
